I wrote and published this this morning but got home and found out it never posted. Whoops! Pour yourself a cup of coffee and pretend it’s morning…
This weekend Eric and I headed up North to attend my aunt Betsy’s book launch and party.
There was a reading and presentation held at a truly wonderful bookstore in Corte Madera called Book Passage, followed by a reception hosted by the lovely Amy Peele (who also did a fabulous job emceeing the launch) and Mark Schatz, followed by a family dinner. I felt so so happy for my aunt and glad to be a part of it.
Here are some photos of a very special day in my family.
So exciting to see her name and cover everywhere.
I loved the giant cover! So cool.
We set up some wine and snacks and I made a double batch of sea salt fudge. The fudge seemed to go over very well which always makes me so happy. I want to start bringing recipe cards when I make this because it’s so easy and people always want the recipe.
It had been too long since I’d seen my mom and dad! I loved getting up early and doing food prep with my mom over a cup of coffee.
We were all so proud of her.
The presentation went so well. Betsy is a very poised public speaker and has such a way with words. The readings she chose were perfect introductions to the characters and I found myself getting totally into the story. Plus, isn’t it always so nice to be read to? I heard one person say they wished they didn’t have plans so they could go home and get lost in the book. Me too.
She asked me to do one of the readings with her. She had me reading the very sassy and foul mouthed best friend. I was definitely nervous since I didn’t want to detract from anything, but word on the street was that I did ok and it was great to be up there with her.
An egg centerpiece to carry on the theme of the cover.
Delicious goat cheese stuffed tomatoes with bacon and chives. I was on assembly duty for these.
And endive topped with the same.
My mom’s delicious deviled eggs.
Always so nice for Eric and I to get some cousin time. Love these guys.
Betsy is such a wonderful writer (author now!) and I’m waiting to share my thoughts on the book since I’m not finished yet, but I’m already so into it. I am totally into the story and find myself thinking about the characters a lot throughout the day. I’ve already gotten chills and laughed out loud so that’s definitely a good sign.
Congratulations Betsy, it was so meaningful to take part in your special day!
